Why HUAWEI CLOUD?

Huawei Cloud was chosen as the preferred partner of APEX for the following reasons:

Compliance experience

Huawei Cloud has partnered more than 300 financial institution customers worldwide in their digital transformation journey, including banks, insurance companies, securities companies, and Fintech companies. Huawei Cloud assists its customers in assessing compliance with regulatory and technological risk requirements imposed by MAS and other regulators and has conducted sharing sessions with consulting agencies.

Technology capability

Huawei Cloud exhibited its technological capabilities through its Proof of Concept(POC) performances, showcasing how it outperformed its competitors.

24x7 customer support

A dedicated customer service group supported the entire project delivery and daily operation monitoring. All incidents are tracked and notified to the client, and resolved as soon as possible. Such 24x7 customer support and prompt incident response allows customers to provide high system and service availability to their users.

Comprehensive ecosystem and business cooperation

APEX is not only our customer, but also our strategic partner. By on-boarding Huawei Cloud, APEX gained access to various counterparties across regions within Huawei Cloud’s ecosystem. Joint marketing events allowed APEX to leverage its brand name together with Huawei Cloud.

Challenges

• Similar to numerous regulated financial institutions, APEX has been grappling with the substantial expenses associated with data center rental and the labor-intensive maintenance and operation of its IT infrastructure. Furthermore, the costs related to hardware depreciation and replacement have had an adverse impact on revenue and added to the operational burden of the IT team.

• In terms of scalability, the traditional data center and hardware at APEX have limitations that hinder the ability to scale up computing resources quickly and responsively during peak trading periods. As a result, there is a shortage of computing resources when they are most needed, necessitating the commitment of additional hardware to support potential spikes in trading activities.

• Overall, the high cost, low efficiency, lack of responsive scaling and efficient monitoring on IT infrastructure are not the challenges to APEX, but rather a common challenge for all financial institutions which are using on-premise hardware.

Solutions

  • The dedicated host (DeH) of Huawei Cloud is used to meet the User Datagram Protocol(UDP) high Performance broadcast capability where broadcast is implemented on the entire large Layer 2 network. The core transaction system used dedicated DeH physical servers to meet computing isolation and performance requirements, which meet the requirements of security compliance.

Customer Benefits

Benefits

Safe and Stable IT Infrastructure

As compared to operating in an on-premise environment, the cloud environment provides a high level of SLA and maintenance. Thus business systems can run smoothly without concerns brought about by issues with IT infrastructure. As a result, APEX can more focus on its business development.

Enhanced security, operation and monitoring

The systems can be monitored with ease through the cloud portal. Computing resources such as Elastic Cloud servers, cyber security, and storage are clearly presented to end users in a visualized manner. Hence, IT infrastructure team can spend lesser time on monitoring the infrastructure performance while focussing more on security and operational efficiency.

Lower IT Infrastructure Cost

Ease of scaling IT resources and elastic usage of resources optimise the infrastructure cost. Capital expenditures are minimised as there is no need to purchase more hardware to support the business.

Partnership within Huawei ecosystem

Through Huawei Cloud’s ecosystem, APEX is able to connect to many partners across countries and industries. APEX is a successful example of leveraging on Huawei Cloud's financial ecosystem to expand partnerships.
